Description
An independent solo developer trying to make a video games. David is a lifelong gamer turned indie game developer. The Companion is his debut game, released in May 2021. The Majestic continues the story and builds upon the experience and success of The Companion.
History
David embarked on his game development journey after Unreal Engine was made available to all in 2015. A journey of countless online tutorials, trial and error, and small projects that would never see the light of day.
Finally, after five years of struggles, in August of 2020 in the midst of the COVID pandemic, it was decided that the next project would, no matter what, see the light of day. The Companion was born.
The Companion is a casual, single player, exploration game. It has an intimate story centered on family. You play as a spiritual creature with an ability to glimpse visions of the past, present and future. Throughout the game you follow a family as they journey home. Earn their kindness, trust, and love and encounter evil that plagues the land.
David spent two months writing the script and ten total months to complete development of the game. A brisk pace by most standards. Voiceover brings the story to life, but was not without its own hurdles. The game plays between 4 to 7 hours long.
Following the success of The Companion, David then spent many months planning a new game, A Forever Solitude, but then decided to place that project on hold and turned his attention to The Majestic, a game that continues the story from The Companion.
The Majestic is slated to release in late 2023 or early 2024. It is being developed in Unreal Engine 5 and builds upon the experience gained from creating The Companion. The story is more grand and the world is larger. David continues to push story telling, immersion and world building in this follow-up game.
